Milo tincans and "Zhui Kueh"

We started our day on 26th May 2007 by going down to our house at around 11am to see if there is any progress with the reno. Here are some of the photos taken on that morning.

The tiles for all the rooms are laid except that the living area as shown above is not finished as the borders were not white cement plastered.

The foyer area was laid with the kitchen tiles. Hope to see more progress next week.

Next stop, we headed down to Balestier, shop name - Lumiere Lightings to meet our designer Diana to purchase light fittings. She recommended us this shop cos she can only find nice lightings here and no other places. It doesn't take us long to choose the lights as Diana made most of the decisions as she knows which lightings will fit our design theme. Here are some photos of the lights chosen:

These are the "Milo Tincans" lightings for our kitchen and toilets. We have chosen the white one in the medium and large size. They looked simple and nice.

Next our master bedroom light, it's the most expensive light out of all the one that we have chosen. It is sort of special and resembled the shape of an overturned "Zhui Kueh" as shown in the below picture.

The total damage cost us 900 bucks and will be delivered to our new house by this coming Saturday 2nd June. Next stop, we went to Novena Sq and the new shopping mall Square 2. Nothing much there but we had a tasty waffle but the shop owner took a long time to prepare the waffle... If not, it will definitely tasted nicer. In the evening, I took ger to a ramen shop Beppu Ramen restaurant to have dinner. The ramen tasted good and the service was not bad. Last year same day, we also had Japanese food for dinner. Such a coincidence.

House Reno Updates

Once I touchdown Singapore from my business training trip in Milford MA in the morning of 20th May, we went to our house immediately to check out the latest work in the renovation. Here are some photos to show the progress of the renovation.

Above photo taken on 19/05/2007 (Sat), the study room wall and the balcony sliding glass were hacked down making our living room very spacious. False ceiling is being constructed with the wiring hanging down.

Above photo taken on 20/05/2007 (Sun), false ceiling at dining area is up.

We went to our house on 23/05/2007 (Wed) after our work in the evening while there is still abit of light due to sun setting. The false ceiling in the living room is up (photo above) and the floor tiles on dining area, masterbed room and kitchen were laid (photo below, corrugated sheet protecting the laid tiles). Seems like the reno is progressing well.

We will be getting our light fittings on this Saturday 26/05/2007. 26th of May 2007 also marks our first wedding anniversary as we were ROMed on 26th May 2006. We'll be very busy on this weekend as there are alot of things to be settled. Plasma TV will be delivered to my existing house on 29/05 Tuesday. Looking forward to seeing our new house done up.

Happy one year wedding anniversary to my dearest ger ger!

200 Pounds Beauty

We went to catch this movie last Saturday. Nice comedic show with pretty korean actress and a touching plot. We both liked it very much although it is quite impossible that plastic surgery will turn her into such a beauty. Nevertheless, it is quite an enjoyable show. I have heard from the radio yesterday that it has the best box office out of all Korean shows in Singapore.
We had also bought our 707 Protek Instant heater from Sim Siang Choon before the movie. Latest news of our new house, our reno will start this coming Friday (11 May) with hacking of the walls first. Flying to Boston this coming Sunday. Will miss Ger...

Things we have not bought

We had made another series of purchase during last weekend Sunday. We bought most of our toilet accessories from Poh Joo (less the instant heater due to the high price as compared to others), non-inverter Mitsubishi Starmex System-3 aircon, and a king-sized Serta Louisiana mattress with a pretty king-sized bedframe.
Brought our parents to Bellari to look at the kitchen stuff, the cooker hob, hood and sink. Need to consult Diana before making the purchase due to the chimney hood.

Now what we have not bought is washing machine, instant heater, Dining table and bedding accessories. Thinking of having a break this coming weekend. Hope to catch a movie or two with Ger... 200 pound girlfriend and Spiderman 3... Looking forward to them!

The Quest of Dining Table

This few weeks have been very busy... Waiting for HDB to rectify our unit, looking for essential items and also some furniture items. One of the furniture items is the dining table. We wanted a long dining table for 8 people to seat in comfortably (8-seater). Hunt for it at different places of furniture outlets. Finally saw one that we are quite keen in getting (picture from Mondi website). It is from Mondi Lifestyle named Novvy, saw it at IMM. Reasonably priced. Will KIV this while consulting Diana for advise.
